Accept shifts and check in from Android

Workers can use the Android app to build a profile, connect with employers, respond to interviews, accept shifts, and complete check-in and checkout.

Sign in or create an account

  1. Open the app. You will see the Login page.
  2. You have two ways to log in: OAuth or username and password.
  3. OAuth login is through Google or Apple.
  4. If you have a Google account or Apple account, use that login to sign in to ShiftAccept.
  5. If you do not have a Google or Apple account, or do not wish to use them for login, log in with username and password.
  6. If you use Google or Apple, the account creation process is automatic because the account is verified.
  7. If you do not use Google or Apple, you must select Create Account.
  8. In Create Account, enter your name, username, and password, then click Create Account.
  9. After you click Create Account, ShiftAccept will take you to the Verification Code page.
  10. Check your email for the verification code from ShiftAccept.
  11. Enter the code from the email into the Verification Code page, then click Verify Account.
  12. After verification, ShiftAccept will take you to the next page: How will you use ShiftAccept?

Choose Worker

  1. If you are a worker, choose Worker.
  2. This instruction is for workers, so choose Worker.
  3. If you are an employer, choose Employer and find the employer instruction to continue.

Create your worker profile

  1. This instruction continues below as a worker.
  2. After you select Worker, you will be shown the Create Profile form.
  3. Enter your details and phone number, which is required for receiving verification codes and SMS notifications.
  4. You can turn off SMS notifications later if you prefer not to receive them, but SMS is needed for phone verification.
  5. After you fill in the details and click Create Worker Profile, you will be taken to the Menu page.

Select your worker role

  1. In the Menu page, first you must select your worker role.
  2. A worker role is similar to a job title. It is a role employers hire for, and you must select a role that employers hire.
  3. In Browse All Roles, all roles are listed and have an Add button beside them.
  4. For example, PSW - Personal Support Worker has an Add button beside it, and if you are qualified as a PSW, add it.
  5. Worker Roles shows the roles employers in ShiftAccept hire. If your qualified role is not found, revisit ShiftAccept later when the role becomes available.

Find employers

  1. After you add a worker role, Interviews become available to you.
  2. If you go to the Interviews page, you will see the Find Employers link.
  3. In the Find Employers page, all employers who hire your worker role are listed.
  4. For example, if you are a PSW, all employers hiring PSWs are listed under your Find Employers page as your match.
  5. Each employer card has two clickable buttons: the employer name and Request Interview Access.
  6. If you click the name on the employer card, you will see employer details, including address, onboarding requirements, hours of operation, contact email, and contact phone.
  7. If you click Request Interview Access, the employer will be notified that you are interested in becoming a backup worker or scheduled worker and would like to attend an interview to be considered for the role.

Request Interview Access

  1. The idea of Interview Access is that it starts the process. If Interview Access is granted by the employer, a worker can request an interview to be scheduled with availability.
  2. Even if one interview is cancelled, another interview can be requested until the Interview Access is closed.
  3. Interview Access becomes automatically closed once the worker is added by the employer to the Backup Worker List or Scheduled Worker List.
  4. Therefore, if you click Request Interview Access, the employer will be notified and can grant you access.
  5. If the employer does not grant access within 7 days, the Interview Access request expires.

Request an interview

  1. If the employer grants Interview Access, it will show on the Active Interview Access page.
  2. If you go to the Active Interview Access page, the card shows no interview requests yet.
  3. If you click the card, it will go to the Interview Access detail page, where there will be a Request Interview button.
  4. If you click Request Interview, a page where you enter your availability will be shown.
  5. Enter your availability, such as any day from 8am to 9pm, or your preferred date and time details.
  6. Ensure you have all the required items the employer mentioned in onboarding requirements. If you have them, check the checkmark or slider button and submit the form by clicking Send Request.
  7. After you send your request, the employer can schedule an interview for you.

Attend the scheduled interview

  1. A scheduled interview will show up on the Scheduled Interviews page.
  2. It will have details such as address, video chat link, or phone number, depending on what type of interview the employer is planning to have.
  3. You would attend the interview in person, by phone, by video chat, or by text chat to communicate with the employer and ultimately submit all documents required for the employer to verify and approve you to perform the duties associated with your role.
  4. The goal of the interview is to get into the company worker pool, where the employer can select you in the ShiftAccept system to send you notifications to accept or decline shift offers. If you accept, you can check in at service locations and perform your duties for the payment agreed on in the shift details.

Review shift offers

  1. Once the interviewer adds you to the Backup Worker List or Scheduled Worker List, you will be notified.
  2. Once they select you for a shift and send you a shift offer, you will be notified.
  3. To see the shift offer, go to the Shifts page.
  4. In the Shifts page, there is an Available / Accepted page.
  5. In the Available page, you will see the shift offers your employers send you.
  6. Click the shift shown on the Available page, and it will show you the shift detail page where you can review shift details such as date and time, address, payment, and other details.

Accept a shift offer

  1. After you agree that you would like to accept the shift, ensure the payment details are set up.
  2. If the shift indicates the payments are offered through e-transfer, ensure you have set up autodeposit.
  3. If you do not have autodeposit, then you and your employer need to ensure the deposit passcode is set up by following the instructions provided by the ShiftAccept system.
  4. The ShiftAccept team recommends that you set up autodeposit for e-transfer, and instructions are also provided to set up autodeposit, which you can follow.
  5. If you have autodeposit set up, enter your email or phone associated with autodeposit and click Accept to accept the shift offer.
  6. If you do not have autodeposit set up, follow the instructions given to set up e-transfer, then click Accept to accept the shift offer.

Use Accepted shifts and Quick Check-In

  1. After you click the Accept button, the shift is accepted and ShiftAccept will take you directly to the Accepted page.
  2. Your accepted shift now shows the buttons History, Add to Quick Check-In, and Check-In.
  3. The History button shows any updates the shift had. If there is any update after you accepted, such as address, date and time, pay, or duties, the history will show the previous details and the current details.
  4. The Add to Quick Check-In button adds your accepted shift to Quick Check-In.
  5. Quick Check-In is available on mobile phones such as iPhone and Android phones. Quick Check-In allows you to quickly swipe to access all accepted shifts you added to it, and quickly check in and check out.
  6. The Check-In button in the shift is the regular check-in button, which acts the same as Quick Check-In.

Check in and check out

  1. When you click the Check-In button, both the regular button and the button in Quick Check-In open a page where the service location map is shown.
  2. If you click the map, it will show directions to the service location in Apple Maps or Google Maps on mobile.
  3. It will also show the amount of time you are checking in early.
  4. It also shows the distance you are from the service location. If you are within 75m of the service location, it will allow you to check in as a verified check-in.
  5. After you check in, the shift is found under the In Progress / Completed page, where it will be found under the In Progress top button.
  6. Find the shift you are currently attending and check out when the shift ends.
  7. If you forget to check out, the shift will automatically check out after the shift end time specified by the employer at the time of shift creation.
